6.2 Setting up the Internet Interface
Chapter 6: General Procedures
NULL Modem Driver Setup Instructions for Windows®

Operating System
If using an RS-232 serial port, you have to set up a NULL modem driver that
allows your computer access to the alarm’s Web pages without having a real
modem connected.
To set up the NULL modem driver, do the following:
1. Click on Start.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Click on Control Panel.
4. Double click on Modems.
5. Click on Add, unless you don’t have any existing modems; then check the
“Don’t detect my modem; I will select it from a list.”
6. Click on Other.
7. Click on Next.
8. Check the Don't detect my modem box.
9. Click on Next.
10. Click on Have Disk....
11. Locate the file Mdmcisc2.inf.
12. Click on Next.
13. Select Generic NULL Modem from the list.
14. Select the serial port on your computer that you want to use.
15. Click on Next.
16. Click on Finish.
