• Fun with Latin! – (3 -6 --must be able to fluently read in English) In this lively introduction to
Latin, we will reinforce English grammar, essential to beginning a systematic study of any
language, and experience Latin in stories (simplified classics & biographies of those who wrote in
Latin), Bible verses, games, activities, and fun. We will learn simple action verbs in Latin in their
dictionary entry forms (four principle parts) and their imperatives, one example each of the regular
1st-5th declensions and 1st-4th conjugations, and tenses of the (irregular) verb to be. We will learn
the concept of conjugation with the regular pattern of the Latin preterite tense. Students will learn
how to pronounce Latin by learning how to read Latin aloud, while absorbing Latin dictionary entry
vocabulary and mechanically sorting nouns into their declensions and verbs into their conjugations.
No homework. At this stage, Latin is fun. Note: This year’s 5 graders who would like to start Latin
