Dealing with Sensitive issues
Today we will also have patients with sensitive issues with problems. They may have some
little sexual history that you need to pay attention to. Last week I noticed you just as ‘How is your
sexual activity’ but look like pharmacists just go ride to the point, very uncomfortable when you
talk about sexual history, especially they are the older generation. For the young generation
maybe it is more common for them as in the social it looks like they are more open to talking
about this in public. They don’t talk about their sexuality, their partners, or their practices. It is not
necessary to talk in public. But if you are a health provider that why I recommend you ask
permission first, explain the purpose you don’t want to be intrusive. What’s the patient talking to
you that can help you to pick appropriate medicine for them? And remind them is very private,
acknowledge nervousness and uncomfortable situations, and you don’t make them
uncomfortable, you just keep calm and look professional at all throughout the interview.
The other issues are very very angry, they can be angry, they are not happy when you ask them,
or you look at them. Religious/ethnic differences, especially some patients who do have a living
based on their belief, their religion, they don’t want to take blood, bloodless surgery.
Why Don't Jehovah's Witnesses Accept Blood Transfusions?
Common misconceptions
Myth: Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in medicine or medical treatment.
Fact: We seek the best possible medical care for ourselves and our families. When we have health
problems, we go to doctors who have skills in providing medical and surgical care without blood.
