Village of Sturtevant Electronic Media-Device Use Policy
7.1 All systems running on a Village tablet must be properly licensed.
7.2 For purposes of this Policy, apps fall into one of the following three categories:
a. STANDARD APPS: These are the apps loaded onto the tablet at the time the
tablet is provided to the Village Board member.
b. ACCEPTABLE APPS: These are apps that are not Standard Apps, but that
may be loaded onto the tablet provided that all of the following terms and
conditions are met. Any app available to tablet users should be uploaded with
caution as to its content and purpose. Any personal use of apps is at the user’s
own risk. An app that is purchased will be done so at the user’s expense
without reimbursement from the Village, at any time, unless it is deemed
appropriate and necessary for all Board members to have the application and it
is approved by the Village Board. At the end of the Board member’s term, the
tablet will be turned in to the Village Administrator and all apps uploaded,
installed and all information present, personal or work related, will be
maintained in accordance with applicable public records laws, or to the extent
such laws do not apply or allow for destruction, shall be deleted.
c. UNAUTHORIZED APPS: These are apps that include racial slurs or sexual
slurs; or obscene, vulgar, and other inappropriate language, photos, visual
depictions, or actions; or that would be offensive to the public.
7.3 Standard Apps and Acceptable Apps are permitted to be loaded onto the tablet,
subject to the terms and conditions of this Policy. Unauthorized apps are
prohibited at all times. Any question regarding whether an app is Acceptable or
Unauthorized shall be determined by Authorized Village Staff. In determining
whether an app is Authorized or Unauthorized, the guiding principle shall be
whether the app is consistent or inconsistent with the conduct of public business.
8. ELECTRONIC MAIL AND ACCESS TO THE WORLD WIDE WEB AND OTHER

8.1 Village tablets have been equipped with firewall and anti-virus software and are
intended to be used to access to electronic mail (e-mail) or access the World Wide
