Village of Sturtevant Electronic Media-Device Use Policy
Village of Sturtevant and work rules, as stated in the Village of Sturtevant’s
Personnel Policy Manual, governing employee conduct, are applicable to the use of,
Village tablet resources.
3.3 This Policy shall not be construed in a manner that causes it to conflict with any
other State or Federal law or Village ordinance.
3.4 Authorized Village Staff shall mean the Village Administrator or his/her
designee.
4. OWNERSHIP:
4.1 In an effort to achieve the objectives of the above listed sections, the Village of Sturtevant
purchased individual tablets for a variety of elected and appointed officials in April 2018.
4.2 For the purposes of keeping up with technology the Village will plan to replace
the tablets on a four year cycle, and will be depreciated over that time.
4.3 If a Village official wishes to purchase the tablet assigned to him/her at the end of the tablets
anticipated life cycle, they may purchase that device at the depreciated value, provided that the
messages, data and metadata on the tablet is first downloaded and retained by the Village for
public records purposes, to the satisfaction of the Authorized Village Staff.
4.4 Devices owned by the official shall be the property of the official and will not be
subject to this policy, except the normal applicability of local, State and Federal laws.
4.5 Unless purchased by the individual official, each device will be considered
property of the Village of Sturtevant and will be subject to the terms and
conditions of this policy.
5. GENERAL USE:
5.1 One tablet will be assigned to each Village Board member and others to be
determined, subject to all terms and conditions of this Policy. Each tablet shall be
labeled to ensure that it is consistently provided to, and used by, the same user.
5.2 All tablets assigned to Village Board members for their term of office remain the
property of the Village of Sturtevant and shall be surrendered to the Village
Administrator upon termination of such member’s term of office or upon request
by the Village Board. Staff will return the tablets at retirement or other
termination of employment with the Village.
5.3 All electronic data, communications, and information, including information
transmitted or stored on the electronic systems of the Village, remain the property
