RESOLUTION BY THE PARKS, EVENT PLANNING, AND VILLAGE
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE ENDORSING A PILOT PROGRAM FOR THE

COMPOSTING OF FOOD WASTE

WHEREAS, many communities are beginning efforts to recycle and compost food
waste to reduce the amount being distributed in landfills; and

WHEREAS, Visioning a Greater Racine has offered to work with the Village of
Sturtevant in creating a pilot program for village residents to recycle food waste; and

WHEREAS, Visioning a Greater Racine will work with Compost Crusaders to compost
collected food waste; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees would like to move forward with creating a pilot
program with Visioning a Greater Racine for the disposal and composting of food waste.

NOW THEREFORE, the Village Board of the Village of Sturtevant, Racine County,
Wisconsin does hereby resolve:

1. That the creation of pilot program with Visioning a Greater Racine is
authorized and approved.

2. The annual cost shall not exceed $1,000.
3. That the funds for said work shall be taken from Fund 219, Community

Events, account # 219-55300-290.
4. The Village President and the Village Clerk are authorized to sign any

agreements or other documents necessary to carry out the intent of this
resolution.

Adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Sturtevant, Racine County,
Wisconsin, this 18th day of September, 2018.
