RESOLUTION BY THE ADMINISTRATION, PERSONNEL, POLICY, AND LEGAL
COMMITTEE AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF
STURTEVANT AND REAL RACINE FOR THE COLLECTION AND
DISBURSEMENT OF ROOM TAX REVENUES

WHEREAS, the Village is interested in attracting a hotel development; and

WHEREAS, Section ’66.0615 allows a municipality to enact an Ordinance
imposing a tax on the privilege of furnishing, at retail, rooms or lodging to transients
by hotel keepers, motel operators and other persons furnishing accommodations
that are available to the public; and

WHEREAS, the adoption of Ordinance 2018-10 allows for the collection of
overnight room tax revenues in the Village of Sturtevant; and

WHEREAS, if a tax is imposed under this statute, the municipality must spend

at least 75% of the room tax collected on tourism promotion and development, as
defined in Section ’66.0615 (1) (fm), and that the remaining amount may be devoted

to supporting tourist services, events or for other purposes; and

WHEREAS, Real Racine acts as a tourism entity for various communities in
Racine County; and

WHEREAS, the Village Board finds that it is in the best interest of the Village
to enter into an agreement with Real Racine to serve as the primary tourism entity
for the Village of Sturtevant.

NOW THEREFORE, the Village Board of the Village of Sturtevant, Racine
County, Wisconsin does hereby resolve:

1. That the execution of a contract with Real Racine to serve as the
primary tourism entity for the Village of Sturtevant is authorized and
approved subject to final review by the Village Administrator.

2. That no fees shall be paid to Real Racine until the village is able to
collect taxes on overnight lodging as established in Ordinance
2018-10.

3. That the contract shall expire December 31, 2020.
4. That the Village President and the Village Clerk are authorized to

sign any agreements or other documents necessary to carry out
the intent of this resolution.

Adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Sturtevant, Racine County,
Wisconsin, this 20th day of November, 2018.
