Parkside Football Club 1897/2017

                                                         1997

Parkside Football Club was not able to unfurl their two the 1996 premiership flags at the start of the
1997 season. The club was forced to switch its home game to Yarraville Oval, because Parkside's
ground, being prepared by council-controlled contractors, was not ready.

But, it would not shift the players’ attention and focus on the task ahead. The Magpies blitzed the
1996 season's runners-up by more than 10 goals, winning in every position and making Yarraville
               look veryundermanned.

               Scores: Parkside 20.14.134 d Yarraville 9.9.63.

Best: Parkside – Metcher, O'Keefe, Ali Taleb, Kelly and Salopek

Parkside suffered a shocking first quarter to trail by six goals at quarter time, with the Cats' backline
Glen Smerdon, Jay Meiers, John Haldane and Brendan Chugg - turning all attacks.

Albion's forwards Michael Shepperbottom, Adam Dunkley-Price and Ernie Bajric were all doing
               extremely well.
