Parkside v Sunshine YCW was the game of the round eight in the FDFL A1 competition.

Parkside took about one and a half quarters to gain control of the match, then powered away to win
by 40 points. Ali Taleb, the Magpies' first rover, gave an outstanding performance to be best on
               ground.

Parkside, celebrating their 100th anniversary, in round nine, playing against Deer Park lost this game
in the first quarter, where they were held, while kicking with a strong breeze, to go in at the first
               change three points down.

The second quarter saw the Parkers get a controlling lead which they were able to maintain until the
               final bell.

A 10-point loss is not a big defeat, but it was the way the Magpies went down which should cause
some concern - on the day, many of their players were well down.

               Deer Park 9.17 (71) d. Parkside 8.13 (61)

Best for Parkside were: O'Keefe, Salopek, Karcoushkas, Klaaysen and Patterson.

                                                           ***

In the following round Parkside beat Altona. The Magpies, adding to their list with the inclusion of
two ex-players, Nick Hatzoglou (ruck-man) and Nick Kotoski (wing), played excellent football after
               starting slowly.

The injury to the Vikings' top ruck-man, Andrew Venner, in the opening 10 minutes of the game left
a very big hole in the team's game plan, which they found difficult to cover.

               Parkside 15.10 (100) d Altona 9.4 (58).

Best for Parkside were: Kotoski, Patterson, Hatzoglou, Burgess and Cukovic.
