Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
TREASURES REPORT FOR 1998 SEASON
In overall terms the financial performance of the Parkside Football Club has been a disaster. All of
the good work that was put in over the summer months with selling trailer raffle tickets and sausage
sizzles was undone by the significant decline in our Bingo profits.
Our return from bingo was in excess of $13,000 down on last year results which takes a lot of raffle
tickets to make up.
It would appear that we have become too heavily reliant on bingo, a situation that needs to be
seriously addressed.
Congratulations to a very hard working committee on the fundraising side of things with the funds
generated being 90% up on last year. Our trailer raffle, Black & White draw, and our Powell raffle
went very well. The club is again indebted to Brian Moore and the manage4ment and patrons of the
Powell Hotel who have supported us very well over a number of years now.
To the ladies in the canteen, especially Judith Lee, for improving overall performance by 17% over
last year, a sincere thank you for your efforts.
And last but not least, to our bar manager Grant Hamilton, for showing us what can be done when
we run our bar professionally, thanks for the effort.
Turning our attention to next year, deep thought needs to be put into place as to how the club can
drastically increase its revenue base. Without this we will not be competitive on the field or on it.
