Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
PRESIDENTS REPORTS 1998
Season 101 was one of mixed emotions. Moving to our fantastic new rooms and oval was a great
start to the season. On the ground we had a very disappointing finish and bingo was down. The
canteen, sponsorship, bar, membership and raffles were all up.
The professional approach of our medical staff Brian, Sharon and Janelle was commendable and the
loyalty of your committee also.
Our new rooms are fantastic, and our second to none playing surface, showers, toilets and social
rooms are a perfect venue.
The introduction of Marco was a stunning success and greatly appreciated by everyone. The quality
of food, presentation and service was first class.
Judy, Gladys, Jacki and Pat with their efforts in the canteen deserve the highest praise and our ability
to have our major functions in our own rooms, enabled us to reduce costs to our members.
Our on the field performances were disappointing and no doubt injuries and suspensions to key
players had a major contribution in this area.
With our A grade losing all finals and our reserves beaten in the in the grand final. It was a very poor
result.
Our senior coach Shane Keogh tried many new things and worked very hard though the year. Gary
Turner, our reserves coach, had a good first year and finished in the grand final.
I would like to personally thank Jim and Judy Lee for their magnificent effort over the last nine years
and wish them all of the best for the future.
I would like also to thank Grant for his magnificent efforts over the bar and to all that spent many
long hours on the trailer raffle thank you.
To Paul, Sam and John Barbuto, Peter Filbin, John Green, Peter Clark, Paul Chatterton, my wife Jacki,
and my two mums Gladys and Pat, the coaches, players, trainers, officials, sponsors, members and
supporters.
We as a club must unite and regain the pride and passion of the great Parkside football club. It is my
belief that the internal friction this year cost us dearly, but it has created a lot of interest. The
committee will not put ego's and personal agenda's in front of what's best for the club and will put
the future of the club first, second and third.
Thank you for a great year
Donald Browne-Kerr. Jnr.
