As it turned out, the loss to Spotswood in round 17 was an indication that Parkside’s A team would
face uncertain future in finals.
“Spotswood should go into the finals with plenty of confidence following their 46-point win over
second-placed Parkside on Sunday. On the day the Woodsmen were just too big and too fast for the
slow Magpies.
It appears Parkside have been coasting for some time, with the only previous loss being to league
leaders Port Colts. It is most likely a good rev up for Parkside coach Shane Keogh to use in the finals.
Best players for Spotswood were Jacob Bugeja, Damien Ferris. Darren Martin, John Frdelja and Mark
Logan.
Standing out for the Magpies were Mick Ryan, Stephen Neilson, Phil O'Keefe, Shamus Robertson and
Michael Tunzi.”
Spotswood 20.14-134 d. Parkside 13.10-88

Parkside kept up their good form for the year, beating Deer Park by 36 points in the concluding
round of the home-and-away season, and went into the qualifying final having dropped only two
games for the season.
Steven Nielsen kicked 11 goals in a best-on-ground display, while other Magpies to do well were
George Messis, Sami Sir, Ali Taleb, Michael Ryan and Srecko Salopek.
