Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
As expected. the game at J.J. Murphy Reserve opened at a good tempo. both teams going in hard.
Port Colts settled quickly to establish a 23-point lead by the end of the first term.
Shane Keogh must have given his charges a good serve during the break. They came out to kick
seven goals to the Colts' four to be only a goal down by half-time.
The second half saw the Colts take over — as they have done in their previous nine games — to
show beyond doubt they are the favourites for this season's flag.
Having a great season as Port Colts' captain, Ricky Mantle led by example and played a splendid
game - an effort similar the one he unleashed as captain of the interleague team.
Brendan Doyle nicked well all day to bring his running players into the game, while Andrew
Thompson held sway on the forward line, kicking four goals.
Other Colts forwards to play well were Steve Harkins (three goals) and Robert Lindsay (two).
Paul Tuddenham contributed greatly to Pon's victory as he controlled play into their forward area for
the entire match.
For the Magpies, Paul Burgess tried his heart out and nicked well throughout the game.
Ahmed Taleb also controlled his section of the Magpies' back line. He came upfield on numerous
occasions to give his forwards the ball.
Phil O'Keefe (three goals) was possibly the best Magpies forward, while Joe Patterson showed a lot
of determination to be among their hest.
The next meeting for these two clubs is likely to be in the finals series.”

After previous week's loss, Parkside put it together to defeat West Footscray by 91 points.
Controlling the game in every quarter, the Magpies were too physically strong and skillful.
David Patterson, brother of Parkside top rover Joe Patterson, booted six goals in his seniors' debut.
Other Magpies to stand out in what was a good team effort were Michael Ryan, Neale Gunning,
Srecko Salopek and Stephen Nielsen.
