Parkside extended winning streak beating Deer Park in round twelve.

“Forget trying to get a wager on Parkside winning this year's first division premiership — the red-hot
               Magpies are unbackable.

Parks demolished finals fancy Deer Park by 48 points.

Captain Michael Cammerino kic-ked six goals in a sizzling display.”

The turbulent year of 1999 culminated in July with Parkside’s Ross Napoli suffered a terrible injury in

“Doctors will not know until later today whether a 24-year-old who injured his neck playing football
               on Saturday will walk again.

Ross Napoli will undergo surgery today after being kept in intensive care over the weekend to assess
the extent of damage to his upper spine. Napoli, who plays for Parkside Football Club, in the
Footscray District Football League, collided with a teammate while playing ruck rover during a match
in Footscray on Saturday. It was his sixth game for the club.

Napoli's neck was injured after he ducked to pick up the football early in in the second quarter. He
immediately could feel nothing in his arms or chest, he said.

Parkside's club president, Mr Don Browne-Kerr junior, said the incident was the worst in his 27 years
               with the club.

"The whole thing is just tragic," he said. "Everybody is really down. It’s an awful thing to happen to
such a young bloke. He is a champion footballer."

Mr Browne-Kerr said news reports yesterday that Napoli had said he wished he were dead were
false. "He was trying to make the best of things, he never said that, not once” he said.
