Parkside Football Club 1897/2017

“Footscray District Football League (FDFL) first division 1999 premiership favourite Parkside may quit
               the competition.

The Magpies are contemplating a move to the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) in the
millennium season in the wake of the recent two-season ban imposed on star half- forward George
               Kotoski.

An angry club president Don Browne-Kerr Jnr blasted Kotoski's controversial ban — laid down by the
               FDFL executive last Wednesday.

He said the club was "currently seeking legal advice" on the matter and he'd been approached by 15
players urging a move to the EDFL at training the night after Kotoski's ban was imposed.

The FDFL executive withdrew the playing permits of Kotoski and Yarraville centreman Dean
Comensoli until the end of the 2001 season at a hearing at FDFL headquarters.”

                                                   Marvellous Magpies

“Parkside is hot stuff. The high-flying Magpies are the team to beat after out-slogging the in-form
Hoppers Crossing (away) in a low-scoring game played in atrocious conditions.

Parkside were far from full strength with injuries and suspensions to key players arising out of the
bruising game against Spotswood in the previous round.

The Magpies were pumped to beat the Warriors — who are coached by Parkside's 1996 premiership
               coach Larry Simmons.

Playing coach O'Keeffe was delighted with captain Michael Cam-merino's return from a nagging
               groin injury — "he's a great player."

O'Keeffe praised the "magnificent" performance of stand-in ruck-man Craig Browne-Kerr.”

Despite the off-field controversy and war of words between the Parks and FDFL administration,
Parkside continued their winning streak. They were unstoppable during their 146-point demolition
               of Seddon-Yarraville.

                                                       “Pies fly high

“Parkside gave finals aspirant Seddon-Yarraville Club a rude shock, handing out a 146-point thrashing
at Merv Hughes Oval on Saturday.

Full-forward Jed Pinkney (six goals), forward-pocket Michael Cammerino (six) and half-forward Joe
Patterson (four) were unstoppable near the big sticks.
