Parkside Football Club 1897/2017

                                                 Herb Pascarl – Mr F.D.F.L.

                                                     By Steven Milne

Footscray resident Herb Pascarl is “Mr FDFL.”

The 91-year-old living legend has a real passion for the local footy competition especially the
               Parkside Football Club.

“It’s my big hobby, has been for many years,” he said. “I’d be lost without it.”

               Pascarl is an FDFL icon.

He lives to watch his beloved Magpies in action, but admits old age is catching up with him.

“This is my worst season ever,” he lamented. “I’ve missed five games. My health hasn’t been too
               good.”

He attends games with his “minder” John Lord.

Pascarl has high hopes Parkside can clinch the first division premiership in 1998, but concedes Port
               Colts are deserving favorites.

“We’re going pretty good, but we’ll still got to beat Port Colts,” Pascarl said. “But they got beaten (by
Deer Park) the other day. You never know in football. We turn on a good game and they (the
Borough) have a bad day…we could be premiers.”

Pascarl relishes having a cold drink with his mates at the Footscray RSL, every Friday night.

They include Percy Cannon, Bill Decis and John Delbridge.

“I know a lot of people down there.” He said. “It used to be a second home to me.”
