hitches the knot can be adjusted to offset the size of
the two attachment loops. Many climbers love the way
these kinds of adjustments allow them to distribute load
to components when the fall line of the fixed line tends
to be widely variable. But these applications are more
rare, and so the knots become very specialized in their
application. Climbing instructors use these knots quite
regularly, but they are not always that useful for a day of
toproping.
Like the bunny eared eight, the bowline on a bight can
be used to offset two attachment loops and is easily
adjusted in the process. Perfect for attaching a fixed
line to two components.
