Me & the GAA
So, what about my story? On a personal level, I have a great passion for Gaelic
games, much of which has no doubt been passed to me through family, community
and the traditions of people and place. My late father, Billy D’Arcy, participated in
six (6) Tipperary County Gaelic Football Championship Finals with his Club ‘Galtee
Rovers’, from 1976 to 1981, winning three (3) (Photo 1.1), while my maternal
grandmother, Johanna Healy (nee Meaney) played Camogie for ‘St Mary’s’ of
Clonmel and represented Munster in the Tailteann Games of 1932 (Photo 1.2).
