What you missed: Salesforce World Tour DC 2018
On April 4th, 2018, Salesforce made their annual World Tour stop in the heart of the
nation’s capital at the Ronald Regan Building. The “traveling mini-Dreamforce”, known
as Salesforce World Tour, is famous for giving attendees a glimpse into the well-known
Dreamforce experience while focusing on the local economy. For World Tour D.C., this
meant a heavy emphasis on the federal government.
The event was packed with hands-on workshops, keynotes, and breakout sessions featuring
such brands as Adidas and T-Mobile and federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of
Commerce, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of State.
Government attendees had a special Government and Aerospace expo located in the center
of the event. The interactive experience showcased what the government of the future looks
like and how to get there. Attendees explored the Trailhead-themed Customer Success
Expo where they viewed Salesforce demos, third-party solutions and technologies, and
attended theater sessions.
Salesforce also continued their support and encouragement of kids to learn, grow,
and code. They hosted six students from MacFarland Middle School, giving them the
opportunity to learn about the UN Sustainable Development goals and basic coding skills, alongside staff from Urban Institute.
The breakout sessions focused on a range of government topics: creating the model for the center of excellence in government; shaping
the future of digital diplomacy; and best practices for accelerating the ATO process. John Harlow, Federal Salesforce Practice Director at
The MIL Corporation (MIL), shared the stage with a stakeholder from the U.S. Department of Commerce to share their success story of
launching a federal case management application to monitor global trade enforcement. Salesforce products discussed included Service
Cloud, Einstein Analytics, and Communities.
In a separate theater session, Mr. Harlow discussed federal web standards for Salesforce Communities. He demoed public notice web
pages, smart forms, and pay.gov integrations all styled with federal 508 compliant web standards and built on the Salesforce platform.
For 38 years and counting, MIL has been empowering federal government entities through technology and, now, we are accelerating
your mission with our dedicated Federal Salesforce Practice. MIL’s forward thinking, solutions-oriented approach combined with
dedicated staff has proven to deliver new benchmarks in public service at departments such as the U.S. Department of Commerce.
