Joyce Sweeting -Niece Miami FL.
The life he lived spoke volumes about him and the Christ that lived through him.
I’m grateful for many things. The time he took transporting me
to The Church of God, where eventually I received Christ as
my personal Savior. His words of wisdom that encouraged me
along the Christian journey. The gospel songs he taught me in
the choir, and those played in his home. Being the father figure
who gave me away at my wedding.
I too lovingly called him Dad: a common name, for a common man, with an
uncommon touch. He will always be alive in me, and the lives of all those he
touched.
Grateful niece
Shane Sweeting – Grand Nephew
He will truly be missed. I’ll never forget Uncle Richard and his
kindness and all the love he has given me and my family over all
these years.
Christopher A. Roberts
It cannot be a coincidence that I first accepted the Lord at
a revival hosted by Southland COG on Windsor Park
when I was a young boy. And it certainly can't be a coin-
cidence that a few years later I would end up in the Boy's
Industrial School where I rededicated my life to Christ
and was given the opportunity to conduct my first choir.
And surely it is no Coincidence that the first Choir
workshop I ever conducted was at Southland COG.
Bro. Dean as he was called or 'DAD" as I called him, was
Choir Director/Minister of Music at Southland and
Superintendent at the Boy's Industrial School during
these pivotal points in my life.
I have told and will continue to tell of the indelible,
permanent impact on my life by this 'gentleman' who became the example and
embodiment of a father to me.
FOREVER is a long time and that's how much I'll love you, that's how much I'll
love you, FOREVER!!
Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory!!
