JI’AN JI
Canton
circa 1870-1920
Quite a rare mark to find, but obviously one of high quality. This four-piece tea and coffee service, each piece is
decorated with six panels, each depicting a dragon amidst clouds against a finely hammered ground. The two
pots have ivory insulators and the finials on each lid take the form of a pumpkin and leaf.

style that became somewhat of a signature of Canton silver in the latter years of the 19th century. The following
illustration shows in more detail some of the extraordinarily complex work that has gone into this set.
