JIN LONG
            Tientsin
            circa 1900-1935

One can reasonably assume Jin Long was a manufacturing silversmith, as opposed to a retail silversmith.
Although this is a mark that has not been widely seen to date, the type of item it is to be found on indicates they
are items made for export, but it is unclear quite to which market - is it, say, Hong Kong souvenir market or
            further afield.

That said, mundane as this desktop smokers’ set is in concept, it is still made of heavy gauge silver and it is far
from being an inferior object. This particular item was sold in Australia for AU$1125 in 2014; whether this was
made for the Australian market where there was a significant Chinese population in the late 19th and early 20th
century and still is remains a mystery.
