Tack Hing appears to have been a silversmith in tune with the Art Deco style in general. The ingenious table
centre [below] is in the form of a bamboo pole resting on a pair of bamboo trestles; it really is an effective stroke
            of genius.

Utilitarian items always presented well when given an Art Deco treatment. A simple cake server suddenly
            becomes stylish.

The Tack Hing store in Hong Kong was, like many of its
compatriots, was ostensibly a high equality jewellery store
that also sold silver wares. This type of emporium was
common in most Chinese cities of the first half of the 20th
                                                          century.

Along with small silver giftware items such as the cake
slice, Tang Hing always carried a range of silver women’s
accessories; this compact is a good example. Again, the
Art Deco style lends itself to a simple planished finish with
                                                          an engraved bamboo foliate motif.
