TAN XING LUNG
            Bangkok, Siam [Thailand]
            circa 1880-1920

Sadly, to date there is not much known of this
silversmith, nor are there more than a handful of
recorded images of work. This late 19th century
reticulated bowl is obviously of exceptional quality. The
starburst motif is particularly ‘eastern’; the pierced feet
                                                            are also of that ilk.

This particular bowl also carries a French import mark
that indicates it dates post-1893 when this form of mark
was adopted. A very heavy gauge silver has been used
                                                            to make this piece.

somewhat of a quandary among dealers as to its place
of origin. While it was obviously not Chinese Export

Silver per se, it was equally obvious a Chinese
http://chinese-export-silver.com silversmith was likely to have been responsible for it.
