Again, this receipt has great socio-historical value but it also refers to the sale of an 80 piece canteen of cutlery
which still exists [below] and shows a photograph taken in 1938 of the purchaser of the canteen with a fellow
Marine outside one of the Palace buildings in the Forbidden City. The canteen is used to this day by the then
owner’s son in America.

The cigarette case [below] was purchased by a US Marine at Teh Ling during his 1937-1939 Peking stay of duty.
