Equally outstanding is this circa 1895-1900 jug bearing the W.A. mark. Perhaps it is fitting it sits on the cusp of
the 19th and 20th centuries since the whole concept of this jug presents a juxtaposition of an age-old Chinese
decorative motif of a dragon in clouds executed in a purely traditional manner and suddenly almost half of the
jug is a plain highly polished surface. Even the polished bamboo loop handle seems to have a modernity about
it that links the traditional with the new - 19th century meets 20th century in one silver jug.
