             A “rogue” W.O.” silver mark that appears to be a bona
             fide Wing On mark























































            The Wing On Company was one of the two largest department stores in Hong Kong and Shanghai, founded in
            1907 by the Kwok brothers. Wing On maintained its own silver workshops as well as commissioned items from
            independent workshops. As much as possible, silver that was exclusive to Wing On was preferred.
            Wing On still exists today  in both cities; in Shanghai it resumed trading under the Wing On name in 2005 in the
            original building that had passed into state ownership in 1949. The Hong Kong store remains part of the Kwok
            empire of 5 Hong Kong stores plus its own bank. The establishment of the Wing On department store and its
