WING NAM & COMPANY [aka: WN]
65 Queen’s Road, Hong Kong
circa 1875-1940
A well-known retail silversmith, reasonably prolific, producing good quality items; the best way to best describe
Wing Nam silver would be “reliable” and “traditional”.
This is Wing Nam’s interpretation of
a Chinese Export Silver style that
evolved towards the end of the 19th
century and continued probably until
the 1940’s with variations, mainly as
a result of which artisan silversmith
produced it.
Wing Nam has chosen to create more
angular bamboo handles and the
pouring spout of the cream jug has
adopted an interesting form.
A good quality, “safe” set with a
degree of style about it. That is the
Wing Nam style.
Exactly the same could be said of the
following tea set. It has an interesting
fusion of Chinese motifs and
classical Western form that have all
undergone a slight modernisation.
