YI TONG
Canton
circa 1845-1900
Believed to be a small independent manufacturing silversmith who mainly made items for retail silversmiths, but
occasionally created items bearing his mark only.
An incredibly unusual item for a Chinese silversmith to have produced - a brandy warmer. It is certainly the first
example I can recall having seen. It is equally unusual for an item of Chinese silver to have a turned wooden
handle, although not unusual for a brandy warmer to have one.
