YONG XING CHENG [aka: JIN YONG XING CHENG; YUNG SHING CHENG]
            Tientsin
            circa 1860-1920

                             Yong Xing Cheng is
                             identified by the
                             “songhe” or crane
                             bird symbol
                             incorporated into
                             every version of the
                             silversmith’s mark

Yong Xing Cheng was quite a unique
retail silversmith, not just because it
adopted what was at the time a highly
innovative concept - a trademark. This
            was a highly individualistic silversmith
who was able to create silver wares

            conventions other silversmiths felt
            obligated to follow.

            Reticulated pillar candlesticks were not
an exclusive idea of Yong Xing Cheng,
but no other Chinese retail silversmith
created a pair quite like these [right].
