UNDER PINE TREE’ CARVING
The boulder is carved as a scholar seated by the stream underneath
a pine tree, with two boy attendants collecting herbs on the
other side of the embankment. The underside is carved with the
signature of Fan Xinhe.

The wood is carved and pierced in imitation of a scholar’s rock
with jagged outcrops and protrusions. The reverse is carved with
