A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
SAKYAMUNI
Ming Dynasty, 15TH CENTURY
Seated in an exalted pose on a double-lotus base, the
Buddha’s right hand in the earth-touching gesture,
bhumisparsa mudra, the left hand held over the lap in
dyanamudra, wearing a robe tied over the left shoulder, the
noble face with a peaceful expression with downcast eyes, the
tightly coiled hair painted blue.

The figure is modelled seated in dhyanasana on a double-
lotus base , the hands in dhyanamudra holding the kalasha, the
face with a benevolent expression centered by a raised urna,
surmounted by the ushnisha topped with a knop.
