PANCHEN LAMA, PROBABLY LOBZANG CHOKYI GYALTSEN
Tibet, 16th/17th century
Wearing a folded, tall hat, and thickly folded robes with incised
decoration and inlaid copper and silver florettes, the lama seated in
padmasana over a lotus throne, his left hand in his lap and holding
a book, the right before his torso in the gesture of teaching, his 621
shoulders flanked with giant lotus flowerheads holding a sword and a
book respectively. 13.2cm (15 1/8in) high

Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th century
With eyes downcast in meditative expression, seated in
dhyanasana, with the right hand reaching down towards the
ground in bhumisparsa mudra, the left hand held gently in the lap in
dhyanamudra, on a double lotus petal throne. 22.5cm (8.7/8in) high.

The Guardian figure modelled standing with full battle armour and
helmet, the right hand holding a staff, all raised on a plinth; the
Buddha of Infinite Light cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus
plinth, with a possibly associated openwork mandorla. 622
