form, one side carved with the sun next
to cloud scrolls above turbulent waves
encircling the lower section of the bottle, the
reverse inscribed Ru ri fang sheng (emerging
like the rising sun); the white stone with
patches of russet inclusions.

SNUFF BOTTLE
Well-hollowed, the bottle of mostly square
profile but with an uneven contour, with flat
lip and foot, carved in relief and with densely
incised lines to depict a horse with its head
turned backward looking at a bee, one
narrow side decorated with serrated rocks
with indented details; the white stone with
cloud-like inclusions and patches of rich
russet skin.
