A JADEITE SNUFF BOTTLE
1820-1860
Of compressed globular form with a concave
circular foot, its neck flaring gently towards
a recessed lip, carved to the main sides with
raised animals, one utilizing the concentrated
golden-russet inclusions in the pale green-
toned stone to depict a Buddhist lion holding
a ‘brocade’ ball in its mouth, opposing a
caparisoned elephant, some details rendered
with incised line.
