TotalEnergies launches new oil and gas
training programme for Ugandans
UGANDA TOTALENERGIES (France) has launched an
online training course for Ugandans interested
in working in the oil and gas sector. The com-
pany’s local affiliate, TotalEnergies EP Uganda,
marked the debut of the programme, known
as the Tilenga Massive Online Open Course
(Tilenga MOOC), at the Kampala Serena Hotel
on January 11.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Philippe
Groueix, the general manager of TotalEnergies
EP Uganda, said the company had established
the course with the aim of expanding and
improving the capacities of the local workforce.
The company intends to recruit 150 Ugandans
for the Tilenga MOOC and will train par-
ticipants over a four-year period to serve as
inspection and maintenance technicians and as
production operators, he said. The programme
will be open to Ugandans between the ages of
18 and 28, he added, and priority will be given
to applicants from areas in the vicinity of the
Tilenga oilfield.
