The legend about how Vilnius
appeared probably is one of the most
popular and best known stories about our
land. The first time it was written in
Lithuania’s records in XVI centuries III
decade, the time of Žygimantas Augustas.
In the old times, Lithuania’s Grand
Duke was Gediminas. He was very brave
and had a lot of soldiers. Gediminas didn't
let anyone rob Lithuania. All the enemies Grand duke Gediminas
were scared of him. Back then, Lithuanians
were idolaters, they used to carve statues
out of wood and worship them.
