Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ...to Him be the glory, both now and to the day of
eternity.” 1 Tim 4:1 warns us that the Spirit clearly says that in later times some
will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
There is nothing that we cannot bring before the throne of God’s grace. Hebrews
4:16 tells us to approach the throne of God’s grace with confidence, so that we
may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. We are to cast all
our cares on Him for He cares for us (Philippians 4:6). God works all things after the
counsel of His will (Ephesians 1:11) and while we do not understand how God can
be in control, allow us to make wrong decisions and allow evil things to happen, we
have to pray, remain faithful and put our trust in Him always. Many things happen
through the power of prayer - we are to pray about everything (Philippians 4:6).
Being saved by grace through faith we can find rest and peace in the Lord Jesus
Christ. Romans 8:38-39 assures us nothing can ever separate us from God’s love
“Neither death, life, angels or demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries
about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No
power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will
ever separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We
are to keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus, the source and perfector of our faith
(Hebrews 12:2). It is important to pray and read the Word of God daily as it is
spiritual food and life - it is living and active - not mere human words (Hebrews
4:12).
2 Timothy 3:12 states that all who seek to live a Godly life will be persecuted. At
times, for no apparent reason, relationships can be difficult. While it may not be
open violence as in some places, in the Western world it is often subtle rejection,
mocking or harassment. It can come from any source - our own families,
universities, politics and the media. Christianity and Christians are in the last days
are rejected and ostracized over and above nearly every other belief. We are to be
as wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16) - which may mean
being careful and practical in dealing with situations and people. We may use
watchful prudence in detecting and escaping difficult situations. At times choosing
to be faithful to the Lord Jesus is costly (Matthew 16:24) but God knows our needs
before we even ask (Matthew 6:8). The Lord our God also gives us assurance of
God’s comfort in times of suffering and trouble - 2 Corinthians 1:3-6 declares:
