P. 14

Jesus to be at the centre of your life (this can be a continual prayer). When the
Lord Jesus is at the centre of our lives we will be led by the Spirit of Christ showing
the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, tolerance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22). Our speech is to be careful, pure, mild
and truthful (Colossians 4:6). Our clothing is to be modest (1 Timothy 2:9). We are
to live in an orderly way, with purity, quietly minding our own business, peaceably
(as far as possible in the strength of gentleness); work diligently, honestly, ethically
    and in all we do give glory to God (Colossians 2:5; 1 Peter 1:16), Romans 12:18;
    Ephesians 4:28; Colossians 3:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:11; 1 Corinthians 10:31). We
cannot take our salvation for granted and God will discipline us as His children (1
    Corinthians 11:32; Hebrews 12 etc.).

The Kingdom of God is not food and drink but peace, joy and righteousness in the
Holy Spirit (Romans 14:7). We may enjoy good food, some alcohol (not
drunkenness - Ephesians 5:18) watch movies and own nice things, participate in all
kinds of activities, but we are to not let anything or anyone become an idol (1
Corinthians 10:14; 1 John 5:21). While we may feel free to participate in some
things we are to be careful not to cause other Christians to stumble in their faith or
cause their conscience to be troubled (Romans 14; Colossians 2:16).

We are to think about lovely, pure, good and worthy things (Philippians 4:8). While
we live, work and play in the world, we are not a part of it for our home is with the
Lord Jesus Christ in heaven (2 Corinthians 6:7; Philippians 3:20). We are to love God
and our neighbor, which sums up all of God’s law, and even love our enemies
(Ephesians 5:21; Galatians 5:13; Matthew 5:44; 22:36-40). Our lives are to be
characterized by truth and love (Proverbs 3).
We are brought into a right relationship with God and with all of His creation -
especially with other believers as we are the spiritual body of Christ (1 Corinthians
12:13). In relationship with other Christians we are to serve, submit to and love
one another out of reverence for the Lord Jesus. 1 Corinthians 13 describes the
selfless love we are to show. We are to be generous within our means (2
Corinthians 8) and hospitable (1 Timothy 6:18-19; 1 Peter 4:9); be honest without
deceit, speak the truth in love; open our hearts and pray for one another; carry
burdens and do good for each other (Ephesians 4:5; Galatians 6:2-10; 2 Timothy
2:1; 1 John 1:7; 1 Peter 2:1-25; James 5:16 etc.). We are to humbly consider others
                                                                      14
