of the body, the fellowship of believers; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from
the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything...” And
Hebrews 1:13 states: “The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful Word. After He
had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in
heaven.” The Son is the humble God servant, the magnificent God and Saviour
and the living Lord of heaven and earth. John 14:6 states “He is the way and the
truth and the life and no person comes to God except through Him.” The Bible is
clear that there is salvation in no one else for God the Father has given no other
name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
The Lord Jesus performed many miracles that are recorded in the Bible and many
other miracles that his disciples saw that are not recorded. But the miracles were
recorded so that people will believe that Jesus is the Saviour, the Son of God, and
so that they will have life by believing in Him (John 20:30-31).
What is it to believe?
Saving faith is more than belief in the existence of God or the Lord Jesus Christ. To
have saving faith we must believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ into our lives.
This is what it means to call on His name (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13). John 1: 12-13
tells us about the Son saying that “...to all who did receive Him, to those who
believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God - children born
not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of
God.” John 3:7 tells us we must be born again spiritually to be saved. When we
have saving faith the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ comes into our lives and
guarantees our salvation (Romans 8:26 ff). 1 Peter 1: 3-4 states “Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has
caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and
will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you…”. When we are saved by grace
through faith we are spiritually raised with the Lord Jesus Christ and are seated
with Him in heaven (Ephesians 2:6).
If you died tomorrow and God asked you the question “Why should I let you into
my heaven?” The only answer that true saving faith can give is “Because I believe
Jesus Christ died and rose again from the dead for my sin. He took my punishment
