now represents all who have faith Him - “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will
be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22). And while God made promises of salvation
in the Old Covenant all these promises of God were fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ
and through the New Covenant. Those who believe in and receive the Lord Jesus
Christ as Saviour and Lord are now God’s people (the spiritual Israel) under the
    New Covenant (Galatians 3, 6:16; Ephesians 1:11; 1 Corinthians 1:20; Hebrews 8;
etc.). This is explained further below.

When the whole world fell into a corrupted declining state of existence it needed a
Saviour. Through the Lord Jesus God’s plan is to have a new heaven and new earth
(Revelations 21). The new creation will have God’s people in it who are spiritually
saved - who have received a new body and who have become like the angels. This
is what this verse, John 3:16, is all about. God’s plan was to give His only Son as a
sacrifice for sin to bring people into an eternal relationship with Him. To be in a
relationship with God we must be cleansed from sin and be spiritually reborn.
When we are saved we are spiritually born again and brought into a perfect
relationship with God and into eternal state of existence without the possibility of
ever being corrupted again. This is God’s great plan of salvation; to have people in
heaven who love God and who desire to live in perfect and pure harmony with God
and the new creation forever. How do we become saved? Please read on.

God’s great plan will not fail even though this broken world does not appear this
way. Although God controls everything we are not his puppets. God does not
cause all bad things to happen and we cannot blame God for the corruption in this
world. God allows us to rebel and because of that rebellion we experience His
judgement here and now that leaves us to our own sin (within our nature) and our
consequent hatred, greed, pride, lies, lust, darkness, blindness and confusion.
Because of our sin and rebellion (called total depravity) we are left to ourselves and
we suffer consequences which includes sickness, disability, deformity and death.
We are separated from God and his love now. Our only hope is the Lord Jesus
Christ - “Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe
is condemned already, because He has not believed in the name of the only Son of
    God” (John 3:17- 18).

Through all things, good and evil, God works and provides for His people causing
them to become the people He created them to be. By sending the Lord Jesus
                                                                       5
