P. 6
Christ God finally revealed Himself, His great plan of salvation and who we are
meant to be. God is Holy (pure) and without holiness (purity) no one can know Him
or see Him (Hebrews 12:14). Only the Lord Jesus Christ who is God and who came
in the flesh is Holy and only He can make us Holy (John 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:30).
When we die without salvation we are eternally separated from God and go to hell.
The Bible states that heaven and hell are real places and that there is a real evil
spiritual being called Satan who has evil spiritual beings with him called demons
(Jude 1:6). While this all sounds mythological, Satan is a real and powerful evil
spiritual being with many evil workers. We only need to take a brief look at the
occult and witchcraft to see evidence of this. Satan is a fallen angel of God and is
described as the father of lies, a deceiving angel of light, a destroyer and enemy of
God and His people (John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 11:3,14; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10;
Revelations 12:9). Along with our sin, Satan and his demons cause much confusion,
destruction, darkness, disease, sickness, disability, deformity, pain and death in the
World. We are told that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John
5:7). God’s plan is that only His love, truth, light and saving power through the Lord
Jesus will deliver us.
What is God’s love?
1 John 1:4 states that God is love. God loves because He is love. His love is shown
in Romans 5:8 “...in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." This love is
not based on feelings or emotions - it is an absolute choice to give without getting
anything in return. God does not love us because we're lovable or because it will
make Him feel better. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and
He sacrificed His own Son (who willingly sacrificed His life for us) to restore the
broken relationship. It is a love of sacrificial reconciliation. God’s love removes
fear and makes us victorious over sin. God’s love is an unconditional, perfect,
strong and complete choice to love for our benefit only. Romans 8:37-39 states
“...in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For
I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor
things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We
come to worship God in spirit and in truth for His great mercy and free gift of love
(Psalm 126:36; John 4:24).
