here on earth. Of course we know God better in heaven, but the
point is that eternal life begins here on earth, not in heaven.
We may still hate the thought of dying and death. I know I do.
I really don’t want to experience this. But at the same time I don’t
fear it. Jesus takes our fear away, as it says in Hebrews, when
we truly know him and live in his truth. This begins by accepting
God’s offer of salvation.
But then something else happens when we accept God’s offer.
He suddenly transforms us from being parties to the contract.
A party has a job to do, and some aspect that they must perform
in order to be part of the contract. Our job is to accept salvation.
But once we do this we’re no longer a party to the contract. The
two parties are (1) God the Father and (2) God the Son. We
are then transformed into being a BENEFICIARY of the contract,
and not a party.
Any lawyer will tell you being a beneficiary if far better!
Paul says several times that God gives us ALL things when we
become a friend of Jesus. And all means all. He says that God
did not spare his own Son Jesus, but delivered him up for us (to
be crucified) and with Jesus we are given ALL things (Rom 8:32).
Jesus agrees with this and says that it is God the Fathers ‘good
pleasure’ to give us his whole Kingdom (Luke 12:32). This
definitely means ‘all things.’
