P. 60

Paul says, when we die, we all stand before the judgment seat.
Even if you’re a New Testament gospel believer, you don’t have

to fear this, because we have already passed ‘from death into

life.’ Jesus says he has taken ALL judgment on himself. He

became sin for us so we could be the righteousness of God in

               Christ (II Cor 5:21).

If this is all true, why do we fear judgment? We’re told not to

fear God’s judgment if we are believers (I John 4:17).

If we are ’in Christ,’ the obedience of Jesus is imputed to us, and
we should take every thought captive to his obedience for us. His

righteousness is imputed to us. His inheritance is imputed to us. His

power and authority is imputed to us. His glory is imputed to us.

Everything he has is imputed to us.

This doesn’t sound like a rule-dominated life to me,
does it sound like one to you?

If this is true in the earthly realm, it is even more true in the

eternal realm — at the judgment seat. We have nothing to fear
from God’s judgment if our trust is in Jesus!

NOW LET’S PRETEND A LITTLE BIT!

Let’s pretend we do have things to fear in God’s judgment.
Doesn’t Matthew say that things that have been hidden will be

brought to light, and that things we’ve hidden will be ’shouted

from the housetops’? This doesn’t mean what we often think, but
