              3.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…

Activity: Pretend you are going to purchase a computer. If you can, go online and shop. Read reviews
of various computers. Once you select the brand and features you want, then shop for the best price
for the computer you have selected. Sometimes you can get a refurbished computer for much less than
a brand new one. It has been returned to the manufacture with something wrong. Generally, they
replace all the components in the computer with new and they sell it as refurbished. It is basically a
new computer in a used container. The manufacture normally will guarantee it the same as a new computer. So,
look for your choice as refurbished. Also check out the “scratch and dent” computers of the brand you have
selected. Dell has a “scratch and dent” section and computers may have a small flaw on the cover, but they mark
them down hundreds of dollars. If you don’t mind a cosmetic flaw, they are brand new computers for much
              cheaper prices!
