Leave No Question Marks
Quite literally, we ask questions until there are no more questions to be asked.
Preconstruction Th is is the essence of preconstruction. As a team we exhaustively determine
the cost and constructability of every design decision. Preconstruction assures
assures there are no there are no unexamined needs, no unmet expectations. Barr & Barr has
unexamined needs, no elevated preconstruction to a science as our extensive history of successful
project outcomes can attest.
unmet expectations.
Preconstruction Programming
Our project team will Barr & Barr will become an integral part of all preconstruction activities.
We will act as an extension of our clients in the coordination, scheduling and
ask questions until management of all activities as necessary to ensure all key project goals are
acknowledged, planned and managed to meet and exceed the objectives and
there are no more expectations for your project. We will meet with all team members to identify
questions to be asked. the project goals and establish the necessary controls for:
• Schedule
• Budget
• Logistical planning
• Quality reviews
• Procurement
• Subcontractor selection
A Project Planning Analysis (PPA) will be prepared at the end of each design
stage and will be the culmination of the interdisciplinary review.
Design & Constructability Review
AN ONGOING DISCIPLINE
Barr & Barr will support the design process by providing review and analysis
of the design documents at each preliminary scheduled milestone: schematic,
design development and construction documents as well as the interim
reviews as necessary. Th e design document review conducted by Barr & Barr
will encompass a wide range of activities and involve all the departments and
disciplines within the organization:
• Drawing and specifi cation analysis:
Review for inconsistencies, completeness and coordination of the documents.
• MEP analysis:
Evaluation of system applications, effi ciencies and costs, including comparisons
with historic data from similar projects.
• Value analysis:
Evaluation of alternative products, means and methods to provide cost,
schedule and quality benefi ts. Additionally, we will provide feedback on all
cost saving and value engineering initiatives.
• Constructability:
BIM analyses of assemblies and building systems. Coordination and connections
between system components and trade disciplines.
