           3. Determination                    of Leather Meal

               (Ammonium Molybdate)



           REAGENT:
           Ammonium  Molybdate  Solution  :  dissolve  5  g  of
           Ammonium molybdate in 100 ml of distilled water and
           pour into 35 ml of concentrated nitric acid.


           PROCEDURE
           FPick up brown and black test sample particles and
              place  in  Petridis.  Add  3-5  drops  of  ammonium

              molybdate  and  let  it  stand  for  5-  10  minutes.

                                                                Note:
           FLeather  meal  will  give  no  colour  change.
              (Picture - 2)                                     If sample having mixed with meat cum bone meal /
                                                                crushed fish, remove the black and brown particles
           FMeat and bone meal gives a greenish yellow colour.   and wash with distilled water and admit to hot air oven
              (Picture - 3)                                     to  remove  the  moisture.  And  add  to  Ammonium
                                                                molybdate solution as above said procedure.
