9. Determination of Castor oil in Oils in other Oils

FSulphuric acid molybdate - In 100 ml of
concentrated sulphuric acid dissolve 1.25 gm of
OBJECTIVE
This procedure is for the determination of Castor oil in ammonium molybdate.
Vegetable oils.
PROCEDURE
FTake 1.0 ml of the oil in clean and dry test tube.
APPARATUS
FTest tube
FAdd 10 ml of Acidified Petroleum ether. Shake
FHot plate vigorously for 2 minutes and add one drop (0.5ml)
of the ammonium molybdate reagent.
FBeaker 250 ml
FThe presence of castor oil indicates by white
FRefuse unit. turbidity in the solution.
