4. Estimation of Crude Protein- Kjelteck

2100 Distillation

SCOPE
To estimate the crude protein in feed &feed stuffs by
Kjelteck 2100 distillation method.

PRINCIPLE
When a solid sample in an alkaline solution is steam
distilled, some of the nitrogen in the protein will be
converted to ammonia. The ammonia will be liberated

and can be collected in a receiver solution and
estimated by titration.
