The bull hitch offers better security than both the
cow hitch (see page 27) and the pedigree cow hitch
(see page 28). It is, however, a bit more complex
than those knots. Because the bull hitch tends to
jam if the standing part is heavily loaded, especially
by a sudden jerk, it is most often used as a temporary
tether and not in situations where it will be left
